The Apostles in King's College, Cambridge

On Easter Saturday 7 April, the Philharmonia Chorus performed Elgar's oratorio The Apostles with the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Stephen Cleobury in the Chapel of King's College. The Apostles was the result of a commission from the Birmingham Triennial Festival, and was premiered at that Festival in 1903. The first performance in King's College Chapel was in 1906. This concert formed part of this year's Easter at Kings Festival, and was recorded by BBC Radio 3 for later transmission.

Philharmonia Chorus performs the Britten War Requiem

On Sunday 25 March at the Royal Festival Hall, the Philharmonia Chorus took part in a performance of Britten's War Requiem with soprano Nancy Gustafson, tenor Mark Padmore, baritone Matthias Goerne, the Philharmonia Voices, the Tiffin Boys Choir, and the Philharmonia Orchestra. The performance was conducted by Lorin Maazel.

Brahms Requiem under Christoph von Dohnányi

The Philharmonia Chorus and the Philharmonia Voices performed Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, a pillar of the choral repertory, under Christoph von Dohnányi and the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall on Thursday 16 February. The soloists were Susan Gritton and Thomas Hampson. The Chorus was prepared by Chorus Master, Stefan Bevier. The concert was relayed live on BBC Radio 3.

Come to an open rehearsal on Thursday 2 February at Gandhi Hall, Indian YMCA, 41 Fitzroy Square, London, W1T 6AQ, on the corner of Fitzroy Street and Grafton Way - nearest tubes are Warren Street and Great Portland Street. The rehearsal will start at 6.30pm, and last until 9pm, with a break at about 8pm.

The rehearsal will be taken by Chorus Master Stefan Bevier. All music will be provided.

Philharmonia Chorus Records Mahler's Second Symphony

On 7 January the Philharmonia Chorus recorded Mahler's Second Symphony with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Benjamin Zander, with soloists Mia Persson and Sarah Connolly at the Watford Colosseum. This is the latest of a series of recordings that Benjamin Zander is undertaking with the Philharmonia Orchestra of all the Mahler symphonies with Telarc, and is expected to be available later this year.
