World première of John Powell's A Prussian Requiem
The Philharmonia Chorus gave the world première of A Prussian Requiem by English composer John Powell on Sunday 6 March at the Royal Festival Hall with tenor Javier Camarena, baritone Ashley Riches and the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by José Serebrier.
John Powell is best known for his scores to motion pictures. Based in Los Angeles since 1997, he has composed the scores to over fifty feature films. A Prussian Requiem is an oratorio that commemorates the centenary of World War 1 has a libretto by Michael Petry.
