Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem in Hamburg
On 22 and 23 March, the Philharmonia Chorus took part in two performances of Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem in the Laeiszhalle, Hamburg, with soprano Chen Reiss, baritone Christian Gerhaher, and the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jeffrey Tate. These are some of the reactions on Facebook and Twitter:
'By far the best performance of Brahms I have ever heard. The concert on Sunday was even better than on Saturday. Thank you and see you soon hopefully.'
'Der Chor ist fantastisch.'
'The work has never sounded like this. What a magnificent chorus! '
Listen to the performance given on Sunday 23 March:
I. Selig sind, die da Leid tragen
II. Denn alles Fleisch, es ist wie Gras
IV. Wie lieblich sind deine Wohungen
VI. Denn wir haben keine bleibende Statt
VII. Selig sind die Toten
