Philharmonia Chorus Professional Singers Scheme

The purpose of the scheme

The Philharmonia Chorus Professional Singers Scheme is being created to provide opportunities for professional singers in the early years of their careers while at the same time enhancing the vocal and musical standards of the Chorus. The Chorus is creating a pool of professional singers from which it will draw singers to take part in its concerts as members of the Chorus.

How the scheme will work

The Chorus, which is a registered charity, has created a restricted fund which is dedicated and ring-fenced for the purpose. Singers will be drawn from the pool for particular concerts, the number of singers dependent on the demands of the work in question. Singers will be required to attend a number of chorus rehearsals as well as the final rehearsal and concert itself. Initially, singers are needed for concerts in February and April 2010. The Chorus normally rehearses on Wednesday and Thursday evenings in central London. It is important that the singers have the right attitude to be able and be willing to fit in with a Chorus of mainly amateur singers.
