Missa Solemnis in the Elbphilharmonie

The Philharmonia Chorus is proud to be taking part in the opening festival of Hamburg's new concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie.

On Tuesday 17 January, the Chorus will join soprano Camilla Nylund, mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly, tenor Klaus Florian Vogt and bass Luca Pisaroni in a performance of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis. The Hamburg Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Sir Jeffrey Tate. The Chorus is shown above rehearsing in the Elbphilharmonie.

The Elbphilharmonie, designed by Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, is in the Hafen City quarter of Hamburg, and it sits on top of an old warehouse building, with spectacular views of the harbour. You can see what a spectacular hall the Elbphilharmonie is here.
